About Your Draperies And Blinds
Your home’s draperies and blinds are an integral part of your home’s décor, but they also act as a part of your home’s natural filtration system. Every time you move your window treatments from side to side or up and down you create static electricity. This static attracts dust, dirt, cooking residues, smoke and other contaminants from the air. These contaminants also contain sulfur oxides which gradually turn into sulphuric acid. Combine these acids with the intense heat of direct sunlight and you get fabric deterioration, color fading and yellowing. Periodic cleaning removes these acids and residues from your window treatments and extends their life. We recommend you clean your window treatments every 2 to 5 years.
Will my drapes shrink? This is an often asked question without a definite answer. Drapery shrinkage has decreased due to improved manufacturing and cleaning technology. All fabric shrinks slightly, and certain fabrics, moirés and rayons can shrink a little more. Fabrics containing polyester or acrylic, such as sheers, generally do not shrink at all. Most shrinkage occurs during the first cleaning and can usually be recovered by stretching and blocking.
Our 28 years experience in installing window treatments and our take down and rehang service assures that your window treatments will look their best after cleaning.
